The Roopkund Trek is one of the most fascinating and mysterious treks in the Indian Himalayas. Located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, this trek is famous for the Roopkund Lake, often called the “Skeleton Lake” due to the ancient human skeletons discovered around its shores.
The trek begins from the picturesque village of Lohajung and passes through dense forests, charming mountain villages, and vast alpine meadows. One of the highlights of the journey is the stunning meadow of Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal, considered among the most beautiful high-altitude grasslands in Asia.
As trekkers climb higher, the landscape becomes more rugged with breathtaking views of Himalayan peaks like Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. Reaching Roopkund Lake at an altitude of 16,499 feet is the ultimate reward, offering a unique mix of history, mystery, and stunning mountain scenery.
